Mental skills training
While COVID-19 demands social distancing, let's embrace the notion that Football Starts at Home. A series of mental skills webinars that are being developed within the club will be posted throughout the summer. These webinars are intended to educate athletes on a variety of mental skills (e.g., motivation, overcoming adversity, self-confidence, and imagery) that can be used to improve performance and lead to a more enjoyable experience both in and outside of soccer.
Below you can find an archive of the recorded Mental Skills training sessions. The Mental Skills training will be led by Coach Anna Dunn. Anna is a fourth-year student at the University of Alberta, working towards an undergraduate degree in the Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism. She is currently completing her progression practicum as the Female Development Coach at the Edmonton Scottish United Soccer Club. Part of Anna’s practicum includes applying what she has learned about sport psychology from her time at university, and creating mental skill sessions for players at ESUSC.
